Glossary





Ad Containers- is the name of the ad widget using a certain Ad Size.

Ad Sizes- is what we use to make the height and width of an ad.

Article Tags- is a keyword or term associated with or assigned to a piece of information (a picture, a geographic map, a blog entry, a video clip etc.,), thus describing the item and enabling a search for that certain informatiom.

Banner Ad- an ad container that is 468x60 pixels.

Bottom Leaderboard- is an 728x90 pixel ad container that displays at the bottom of your NewsPortalSite.

Button Ad- an ad container that is 125x125 pixels.

Classifieds- parts of a publication that contain advertisements or lists arranged by category

Color Schemes- this application lets you submit your favorite combination of colors to make your desired scheme.

Custom Pages- are blank pages where you can add your own personal content.

Easy Edition- a service we provide that will publish your content, work with your advertisers, and maintain your online publication to your satisfaction for the price of $895/ month.

Footer Menu- shows up at the very bottom of your NewsPortalSite with links and copyright/contact information.

Forum- a place for discussion of questions of public interest.

Gallery- is an application where you can add Albums with multiple images within it.

Google Sitemaps- is a Sitemap is an XML file that lists the URLs for a site. It allows webmasters to include additional information about each URL: when it was last updated, how often it changes, and how important it is in relation to other URLs in the site.

Header- is the main image of your site, usually dislpaying your site's name at the very top of the page.

Keywords- are used by Web surfers to describe what they hope to find when performing a Web search.

Main Menu- is a horizontal list of links to different pages of your site or other sites.

Manual Rotation- this allows you to go into Manage Articles, update an article that is NOT an RSS article, and choose where you want it to show up in the Top Articles on the home page.

Meta Tags- are pieces of code that can be used to identify the creator of a webpage, what HTML the page follows, the description of the page, and the refresh parameter (which can be used to cause the page to reload itself, or to load another page).

Newest Articles By Timestamp- this option shows newest articles, with the newest occupying Rank 1 and the next most recent in Rank 2 and so on.

Random Newest 20 Articles- is the random newest text.

Rank- is another word for order.

Random Rotation From Manual List- this setting allows you to put articles on a list. These articles are rotated manually around on the Top Articles.

RSS Feed- is used to publish frequently updated content such as blog entries, news headlines, and podcasts in a standardized format. An RSS document (which is called a Feed, Web Feed, or Channel) contains either a summary of content from an associated web site or the full text.

Section- is the main holder of all of the SubSections that branch off of it.

Skyscraper Ad- is an ad container that is 120x600 pixels.

Slideshow- is an application that lets you add albums with lots of images and have them display on your homepage, using the Image Link Box Widget.

Stand Alone Subsection- is a SubSection that is not linked to a Section.

SubMenu- is a small menu that drops down from a Main Menu item.

SubSection- holds all of the articles that are assigned to it. (You must have a Section made before you can add a Subsection.)

Tile Ad- is an ad container that is 150x60 pixels.

Timestamp- is the current time of an event that is recorded by a computer.

Top Leaderboard- is a 728x90 ad container that displays right under the Main Menu.

Widget- is what we use to display information and provide a special way for a user to interact with a certian application. Widgets can include Headers, Ads, Weather, Polls, RSS Feeds, Calendars, Articles, and ect.

Wide Skyscraper- is an ad container that is 160x600 pixels.
