Manage Articles

First you will need to select the subsection for which to view all the articles currently available.

Add an article

To add a new article click on the Add button. Enter the title of the article the author that is writing it. The Release Date and Release Time are set up to show the current date and time, but if you want to change that, you are more than welcome.

Below the Relase Time, there is an option to turn on Timestamp Priority Period. This is useful if you have RSS articles populating your site, and you are writing an article. If you don't have Timestamp Priority Period turned on, your article will get bumped off your Top Articles within a matter of minutes. If you turn on Timestamp Priority Period for a certain article, that article will remain in your Top Articles for however long you set the Timestamp Priority Period. You can set this by going under SETTINGS and then clicking on Manage Article Settings. Below the Timestamp Priority Period, there is a text field for putting Article Tags. This is a feature that will be used in future versions of NewsPortal.

The Intro of your article is a small paragraph of text that appears on the section page that it is related to. The intro does not show up when you actually click on an article to view it.

Add an Image, Video, or Audio

To add an image, video, or audio to your article, select the button that says Image(s), Video(s), or Audio and then click Add Image.

Clicking Add Image will cause a pop up window to open. This pop up window is your Media Server that holds all of your images. You can either use the upload form to insert a new image into the media server, or you can browse throught the images you already have. Once you have found in image you want to use, click on the image, and then click the Select File button in the bottom of the pop up window.

Once you click the Select File button, the popup window will automatically close and your image will show up on the add article page as shown below.

There is a text box that allows you to enter a caption for the image, which will be information that is shown below the image on the site. The rank is the order in which the image will show up in the slideshow. If you have more than one image associated with an article, it is considered a slideshow. If you want to add more images to this article, just click on the Add Image button again and select or upload another image.
