Create An Effective Blog
A blog is a collection of related writings in chronological order that you can associate with a logo, header, and description to give it a branding identity. Here you will learn how to give your blog a title, you will also be able to choose the author, the status of your blog, and learn how to add your personal content.
Take the following steps to setup a blog in your NewsPortalSite.
Step 1: Login to your Admin main menu. When the page loads, you should see the box labeled Settings. Inside the Settings box you will see the words Manage Subsections. Click Manage Subsections.
Step 2: This will bring you to a manage subsections table. In the upper-right hand corner of the table, you should click the Add button.
Once you have clicked the Add button, then you will be brought to a page that says Add Subsection. Here you will name your blog. There will be the words Section name in the left part of the page and to the right of those words is a box that you can type inside of. Here you will name your blog whatever you desire.
(Ex. November 13th)
Step 3: Now under the Subsection name, you will find the word Section. You want to go to the right of that, where the scroll box is and click on the arrow. Here you will scroll down to the last choice, that says Blogs. Make sure you have selected Blogs.
Step 4: Below Section there is the word Header, with a scroll box where you can select Default or one of your own images that is already uploaded in the media server. This header shows up at the very top of your page.
There are two different Headers. Step 4 is the very top Header and step 6 is the Header for the blog section.
Once you have chosen your header and you have clicked on it, it will then show up in the scroll box.
Step 5: If you want to arrange your subsections, there will be a scroll bar next to the word Rank. By clicking the arrow, you can choose the order.
(Ex. If you select 1, your blog will be first.)
Step 6: If you want to upload a logo image or a new header image, then the following information is to be read. If not, refer to step number eight. To upload a logo image you click on the gray button that says "Select Image."
For the logo image there is an ideal size which is 90 x 60.
The window named Media Server will pop up and from there you choose from your images or go to the bottom of the window and upload an image that you desire. After getting done with uploading, you will need to press the Select Image button and then return to the previous page. If you want to upload a header image, you click on the gray button that is in the header image section. This will make the window named Media Server pop up and you can choose an image that you desire or upload an image on the bottom of the media server page. The ideal size for a header image is 410 x 100. You can choose the image by clicking the button called Browse. Once that is done uploading, you can return to the previous page.
Step 7: In the largest box is where you will write your blog description. On top of that box there is an area for formatting your font.
Step 8: After you have put everything you desire in your blog, you can click the button below the blog description area that says Add Subsection.
Step 9: You will then be brought to the Manage Subsections page, where you will see a table of subsections. Under the words in bold, black text, that says Manage Subsection, you should see in blue text saying Item has been successfully added to the database!
