Create an Informative Custom Page
These following steps will explain in detail how to create and link a custom page.
Step I: Log into your admin main menu. Next, click on Manage Custom Pages under the Site Design tab.
Step II: Click on the Add button in the upper-right hand corner of the table. Name the page in the first text box. Text Box is a term that describes anything you can type text into. The address bar at the top of your internet browser (examples include Internet Explorer and FireFox) is an example of a text box. It is imperative that you do NOT use spaces in this field. It will only be seen in the address bar and will not This name simply serves as a FILE name and spaces will confuse your computer. We'll be referring to this again in Step III so be prepared to come back to this. I would strongly suggest you write the Page Name (remember it's the name of the file) down on a piece of paper so that in Step III you dont run into problems. Did you notice that there are a total of seven text boxes on this page? The first of these you already filled out earlier in step II. Three of these remaining text boxes, named title section two and section three, are used as section titles in your page. Naturally, if your custom page has only one section, then the second and third section titles are unnecessary. The big text boxes are where you type the text of your custom page.
Once you are satisfied with your custom page, click on the button at the bottom that says Add Custom Page.
Good job! We're almost done.
Your page has been created, but now we need to place a link to it on your NewsPortal!
Step III: In the Admin main menu, in the Settings section, click on the Manage Menu option. (You can also choose to put your custom page as a submenu by clicking on the Manage SubMenu option. The steps are basically the same only you must first choose a main menu for your custom page to be a submenu of ). For the sake of clarity, users wishing to create a SubMenu, should note that I will continue this procedure as the custom page were going to be a menu, not a submenu. Recognize that the only difference is where there is a reference to either manage or add a menu, substitue the word Menu for SubMenu. In the Manage Menu page, click on Add in the upper right corner of the table. Skip the first text box that says Name, we'll come back to this. Remember that box that we CANNOT have spaces in? Here is where that comes into play. Still on the "Add Menu" page, type that exact name from Step II into the "Link" text box. Since you wrote the name down from step II, there should be no pro blems making the link work correctly. Now, Immediately after typing in the name of your custom page into the Link text box, type .CFM The Link box should now look something along the lines of CUSTOMPAGEEXAMPLE.CFM There is no need to do that in Step II. We do that one automatically for you.
Step IV: The Name box is the menu option that will appear on your NewsPortal header menu. This one CAN have spaces and is unaffected by everything else. For those who are setting up a custom page under a submenu, scroll over the menu option you selected and your custom page will be one of the drop down options.
Congratulations! You just created and linked a custom page to your NewsPortal.
